4. Importing Photos

Steps:

  1. Connect camera/SD card or locate folder on hard drive.
  2. Click Import button (or Ctrl+Shift+I / Cmd+Shift+I).
  3. Source panel (left): choose device/folder.
  4. At top center, choose import type:
    • Copy as DNG (converts raw to Adobe DNG)
    • Copy (copy to new location – most common)
    • Move (move files)
    • Add (leave in place)
  5. Destination panel (right): choose target folder, organize by date (e.g., 2023/04/15).
  6. File Handling (right):
    • Build Previews: Minimal & Embedded (fast), Standard, 1:1 (for heavy zooming)
    • Make Second Copy To (backup to another drive)
    • Add to Collection
  7. Apply During Import (right):
    • Develop Settings (presets)
    • Metadata (copyright, creator)
