4. Importing Photos

Steps:

Connect camera/SD card or locate folder on hard drive.
Click Import button (or Ctrl+Shift+I / Cmd+Shift+I).
Source panel (left): choose device/folder.
At top center, choose import type:
- Copy as DNG (converts raw to Adobe DNG)
- Copy (copy to new location – most common)
- Move (move files)
- Add (leave in place)
Destination panel (right): choose target folder, organize by date (e.g., 2023/04/15).
File Handling (right):
- Build Previews: Minimal & Embedded (fast), Standard, 1:1 (for heavy zooming)
- Make Second Copy To (backup to another drive)
- Add to Collection
Apply During Import (right):
- Develop Settings (presets)
- Metadata (copyright, creator)
- Keywords
Click Import.
