Installation on Windows

  1. Disable UAC and Antivirus Temporarily: BNA’s database installer often triggers false positives.
  2. Run as Administrator: Launch the .exe file.
  3. Choose Installation Type:
    • Client Only: For remote management (no local database).
    • Server + Client: Full management for up to 24 switches (Professional).
    • Server + Client + Performance Monitor: Full Enterprise edition.
  4. Configure Database: For lab, use the embedded PostgreSQL. For production, point to an external instance.
  5. Java Verification: The installer will check for JRE 8 in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_231. If missing, you must manually install an older JRE.
  6. Complete and Launch: Reboot is usually required. Launch from Start Menu → Brocade Network Advisor Client.

Part 2: Where Can You Download Brocade Network Advisor?

Because BNA is EOL, you cannot find it on a public, "click-to-download" page like a typical open-source tool. Brocade (now Broadcom) has moved all legacy software to their Broadcom Support Portal, which requires a valid support contract or a registered corporate email.
