Step 2: Boot the Storage Processor (SP)

Physically connect a VGA monitor and USB keyboard to the SP (or use serial console if your model supports it).
Reboot the SP. Enter BIOS/boot menu (usually F11 or F12 on EMC-branded Intel mobos).
Select the USB drive as the boot device.
You will see a GRUB menu. Choose EMC Utility Pro - Safe Mode (no network).

Step 5: Recover from a Corrupted Vault (Most Critical)

Scenario: Your CX4-240 flashes amber lights on all four vault drives and never posts. emc utility pro

Boot into EMC Utility Pro.
Select Vault Recovery Tools > Rebuild Vault from Peer SP.
Ensure the other Storage Processor (SP B) is functioning and cabled.
The utility will copy the FLARE image and vault signatures from the good SP to the failed one.
This process takes 15–30 minutes. Do not power off.
After completion, reboot both SPs. The array should now boot normally.
