Firmware Honor Pad X9 — Real & Essential
Deep Overview: Honor Pad X9 Firmware
Multitasking Features
The firmware shines when utilizing the 11.5-inch screen.
- Multi-Window Support: The software allows for easy split-screen viewing. You can watch a video while taking notes or browsing the web. The gesture controls to initiate split-screen are responsive and easy to learn.
- MagicRing: If you own a Honor smartphone, the firmware includes MagicRing. This ecosystem feature allows you to share your phone’s screen on the tablet or drag files between devices seamlessly. It works surprisingly well and adds significant value if you are already in the Honor ecosystem.
4. Firmware signing and security
- Bootloader and firmware are typically cryptographically signed. Honor uses a locked bootloader in production units, enforcing signature checks via Verified Boot (AVB/AVB2) or OEM-specific verification.
- Secure Boot and rollback protection may be present to prevent booting older, vulnerable firmware.
- Unlocking the bootloader (if possible) requires OEM unlock via Developer Options and may require an unlock token; unlocking voids warranty and may factory-reset the device.
- SELinux is commonly enforced in enforcing mode in production images; debug builds may run permissive.
