Lantek Expert Tutorial: From CAD Design to CNC Production
Simulation & verification
- Run cutting simulation to check toolpaths, collisions, and pierce sequences.
- Validate machine travel, lead-in correctness, and approach/leave moves.
- Check nesting reports for material usage, sheet yield, and estimated cutting time.
3. Importing External Files
In modern fabrication, most parts arrive as DXF or DWG files. The tutorial covers the Import Wizard, which automates the cleaning of "dirty geometry" (overlapping lines, open corners) often found in customer CAD files.
Part 7: Simulation & Collision Detection
Never send code to the floor without simulating. lantek expert tutorial
- Click the
3D Simulation button (blue play icon).
- Use the slider to watch the tool move.
- Check for:
- Rapid traverse crashes: Does the head drag across a tilted slug?
- Pierce order: Is it piercing too close to a previously cut edge (which would heat warp the material)?
The "Red Zone" Warning: If Lantek highlights an area in red, it means Collision Detected. Go back to the Technology tab and increase the Micro-joint distance or change the Part exit point. Lantek Expert Tutorial: From CAD Design to CNC
