Zte Mc801a Firmware Patched -
ZTE MC801A Firmware Report
How to downgrade:
- Follow the manual flash steps above, but select the older
.BIN file.
- If the tool rejects it with "Version check failed," you must first flash a "transition" firmware (e.g., B12 → B10 → B08).
Pro warning: Some carriers (T-Mobile, Three) have anti-rollback protection (ARP). Downgrading will permanently brick the modem partition. If you see "Anti-rollback check failed" in the logs, stop immediately.
Carrier-Locked Firmware
- T-Mobile (USA) / TMO: Firmware is heavily customized to lock the router to T-Mobile’s network. You cannot manually change APNs. Updates are pushed by T-Mobile, not ZTE.
- Optus (Australia): Known for aggressive power-saving firmware that sometimes disables 5G unnecessarily.
- Three (UK): Firmware often locks bridge mode and restricts IP passthrough.
- Proximus (Belgium): Unique firmware with custom VoIP settings.
Critical warning: You cannot flash a generic firmware onto a carrier-locked device without first unlocking the bootloader or using specialized flash tools. Doing so incorrectly will hard-brick the router. zte mc801a firmware
"Can't access hidden menu anymore"
- Cause: Carrier locked it in newer builds.
- Fix: Downgrade to a previous firmware version or use generic firmware (risky).
Part 5: Manual Firmware Installation (Advanced Users)
When OTA fails, manual flashing is the only option. Warning: This voids warranties and can brick your device if done incorrectly. ZTE MC801A Firmware Report
How to downgrade:
"5G speed dropped after updating"
- Cause: New firmware changed band preference.
